Russ Leatherman (created 14 February 1962) is a cofounder of Moviefone, a favorite film guide. As a film critic, Leatherman’s reviews are noticed on CNN, CNN Headline News, ABC TV, CBS’s “The Early Show”, Fox News, MSNBC, NPR, the nationally syndicated “The Daily Buzz” morning show, and heard on several top radio stations nationwide including Z100 in NYC, KRTH FM in La and the nationally syndicated Westwood One, USA Radio Network, and ABC Radio Network.
He’s been profiled in the pages of Time Magazine, People, Entertainment Weekly, “Life”, “Vanity Fair” and “The New York Times”. Leatherman also appears frequently with “Jonathon Brandmeier” on the Brandmeier Show on 87.7 The Game in Chicago.
Leatherman co-founded the Moviefone business in 1989 and has become the voice of the character “Mr. Moviefone” from the beginning. Leatherman is a former University of Idaho student and DJ (where he received his degree in Television and Radio) and uses an over the top, “Dick Clark on crack” whirl when acting as Mr. Moviefone. Moviefone was bought by AOL in 2000.
