Both singles were included on his self-titled debut record, released in 1993 via Giant Records. He remained together with the label until its 2001 closing, after recording for Warner Bros. Records and RCA Records before joining his present label, Asylum-Curb Records, in 2007.
Clay Walker has released a total of 11 records, including a greatest hits package and an album of Christmas music. His first four studio albums all reached platinum certificate in America and his greatest hits set and fifth studio album were each certified gold. His latest record, “She Will Not Be Lonely Long”, was released in mid-2010.
The oldest of five kids, Walker lived in Vidor along with his dad, who gave him a guitar when he was nine years of age. Walker started entering talent contests at age fifteen. After leaving his shift as nighttime desk clerk in a Super 8 Motel, he halted in an area radio station to provide a tape of a tune which he had composed. Though the morning disc jockey told him that the station’s policies forbad playing self-submitted tapes, he played Walker’s tune and said that it was “too great to pass up.” After graduating from Vidor High School in 1986, Walker started working in a Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company plant. At nineteen, he also started touring as a musician, playing various local clubs and eventually finding work as the house singer in a pub in Beaumont called the Neon Armadillo. In November 1992, he was found by James Stroud, a record producer who had been also the president of Warner Music Group subsidiary company Giant Records. Walker signed to Giant late in the entire year.
