As a guest on BBC's Breakfast (2000) (12 Aug. 2010), the author disclosed to hosts Sian Williams and Bill Turnbull that when she re-read her book "The L-Shaped Room" (1962) many years after it was published and adapted for film, she, herself, was shocked by some of the content. Banks further added that, if she had to re-write the novel, she would omit several passages but declined to reveal what those omissions would be.
