Between 1960 and 1974, his wife Sallie filed for divorce (and retracted) four times, accusing him of mental and physical cruelty. In 1966 a judge ordered him to jail after finding him guilty of violently attacking his wife. Now his wife disavows her previous charges, saying she had been on drugs.
Hosted a conservative talk show on KPLS (now KLAA) 830AM in Orange, California.

Was banned from the Capitol Building of the House of Representatives in 1997 for verbally and loudly attacking a House Member while Congress was in session.
