This publication targets the rich market and chronicles the lively world of the most affluent & most inspirational people. DuJour’s stellar roster of editors, writers, stylists and photographers bring cutting edge content to the vanguard in the worlds of fashion, design, food, traveling, art and politics, both locally and nationwide. The business was profitable within its first year of operation.
Ahead of the start of DuJour, Binn founded Niche Media Holdings in 1998, a top publisher of high-end regional magazines nationally. In 2006, Binn sold Niche Media for an undisclosed amount to the Greenspun Media Group (GMG). Following the successful amalgamation and transition, Binn continued to manage the operations and direction of the business as CEO until his departure in 2010.
In August 2010, Binn employed the digital ecommerce space and was retained as a senior advisor to Gilt Groupe. Gilt created itself as a top online retailer in the U.S. and Japan with a comprehensive variety of day-to-day revenue for its several million invitation only members. Established in 2007, Gilt Groupe reported gross revenues of $25 million in 2008 and now does about $600 million in yearly sales.
In September 2011, Binn created a strategic partnership with Getty Images and WireImage, a leading originator and provider of digital media. Binn’s partnership with Getty/WireImage markets his private photography, archives and BinnShot (which he edits). The Featured Events section is observable on WireImage’s amusement tab (Binnshot.com), which appear on your home page.
Binn’s career started when he co-founded Ocean Drive at age 25, constructing what Business Week called “a fast growing empire” of upscale glossies that cornered the regional publishing marketplace, becoming the nation’s preeminent local luxury magazines. In 2006, he was given Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year,” as well as in 2007, he was inducted to the American Advertising Federation’s “Marketing Hall of Achievement” (the only magazine receiver for this year). In 2008, Binn was featured in Crain’s enviable “40 Under 40” list of successful entrepreneurs. In 2009, Dean Tom Fielder presented Binn with Boston University’s “Distinguished Alumni Award for Service to the Profession” for his direction and cutting edge work in the discipline of communications. Binn continues to serve on the board at Boston University.
