Bruce Vilanch Bio/Wiki, Net Worth, Married 2018

Bruce Vilanch (created November 23, 1948) is an American comedy writer, songwriter and performer. He’s a six-time Emmy Award-winner. In 2000, he performed off Broadway in his self-penned one man show, “Bruce Vilanch: Almost Famous”. Since 2000, Vilanch has become the head writer for the Oscars, after being an Oscar software co-writer for the preceding ten years. He’s a featured writer for the Tonys, Grammys and Emmys.

Vilanch’s livelihood in the entertainment industry started with composing characteristics for The Chicago Tribune. As an entertainment writer, he started spending time with as many stars as would let him. It was how he met then-struggling cabaret singer Bette Midler. Becoming buddies, Vilanch afterwards composed comedy content for Midler’s 1974 Broadway show Clams on the Half Shell and co-composed Divine Madness for her in 1980. Following a move to La, Vilanch was a co-writer for The Donny & Marie Show, 1978’s negatively received Star Wars Holiday Special, as well as the shortlived Brady Bunch Variety Hour. For four years, Vilanch was head writer and star square on Hollywood Squares,[2] next to pal and customer Whoopi Goldberg. Since 1980, Vilanch is a reporter and columnist for The Advocate, composing both funny and serious pieces. Bruce!: When requesting him to compose content for among her concert tours, Barbra Streisand offered what Vilanch believed was a “ridiculously low” wage. Vilanch refused her offer. She afterwards requested him to compose for among her approaching Las Vegas appearances. Vilanch co-wrote the novel for the musical Platinum, which briefly played on Broadway in 1978. He’s also brought to concert shows starring Michael Feinstein, Bette Midler and Diana Ross. As a songwriter, Vilanch co-composed “Where Is My Man” with musicians Fred Zarr and Jacques Morali. The tune was popularized by vocalist/actress Eartha Kitt in 1983. The show started at Caesars Palace in Vegas, getting favorable reviews. Vilanch has had a longstanding friendship with Henderson, composing for her one woman show along with several of the The Brady Bunch Variety Hour episodes in the early 1980s.
