Maggie Estep (March 20, 1963 – February 12, 2014) was an American writer and poet most well known for coming to prominence during the height of the spoken word and poetry slam performance rage. She published seven books and released two spoken word albums: No More Mr. Nice Girl and Love is a Dog From Hell.

Her passion for writing developed during her 1980's rehab stay for a heroin addiction. "No amount of yoga, bicycle racing, rapacious sex, or buying things can take the place of writing. If I don't write, I die".

She worked for 15 years on the novel "The Angelmakers" which is about 19th Century women gangsters and the founding of animal rights movement. She rewrote the novel 7 times and it's not been published.
