Jeff Shaara was born on February 21, 1952 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA. He is an actor and writer, known for Gods and Generals (2003), The Gettysburg Address (2015) and Grant vs Lee (1999).
As executor of the estate of his father Michael Shaara, he sold the film rights to The Killer Angels to filmmaker Ron Maxwell, who filmed it as Gettysburg (1993). Maxwell also encouraged his to continue his father's work, and write about the rest of the Civil War. Jeff did so with a prequel, Gods and Generals, and a sequel, The Last Full Measure. He has also used his father's historical fiction approach to write about the American Revolution, Mexican-American War ,World War I and World War II.
