Leland “Lee” Corso (created August 7, 1935) is an American sports broadcaster and football analyst for ESPN and former longtime school football trainer. He’s been a featured analyst on ESPN’s “College GameDay” program since its beginning in 1987.
Corso’s catchphrase, “Not so quickly, my buddy!”, with pencil constantly in hand, is generally directed at Kirk Herbstreit, in disagreement with Herbstreit’s forecasts. Corso additionally calls almost everyone “sweetheart.” Corso is, in addition, famous for stopping every weekly show along with his mascot headgear forecast, when he picks who he believes will win the match at GameDay’s website by donning the headpiece of the school’s mascot. As of October 2013, he estimates he’s worn the headgear of numerous teams 220 times. Corso takes his hawk mascot head off while the game’s determining play unfolds in slow motion. Corso appeared yearly in EA Sports NCAA Football titles along with Herbstreit and play-by-play guy Brad Nessler until NCAA Football 11, where he doesn’t do play-by-play. The 2006 version of the game starts with Corso making his mascot headgear forecast. In the event the team Corso picks doesn’t possess a mascot, he wears the helmet instead like on College GameDay.
