Jack Clement was born on April 8, 1931 in Whitehaven, Tennessee, USA as Jack Henderson Clement. He died on August 8, 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee.
After studying at Memphis State Uniiversity, in 1956 Clement went to work as an engineer and producer for Sam Phillips at Sun Studios where he worked with future singing stars such as Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash. While there, Clement personally discovered and recorded Jerry Lee Lewis while Sam Phillips was away on a trip to Florida.
