John Hubley (May 21, 1914 – February 21, 1977) was an American animation director, art director, producer and writer of traditional animation films known for both his formal experimentation and for his emotional realism which stemmed from his tendency to cast his own children as voice actors in his films.

# Fact 1 Graduated from the Art Centre of Los Angeles and joined the Disney organisation as an apprentice in 1935. Co-founded the animation company UPA (United Productions of America) after World War II and served as its director for five years. In 1955, established his own production unit, Storyboard Inc., in collaboration with his wife Faith. 2 Member of the jury at the Venice Film Festival in 1961 3 Was to have filmed "Finian's Rainbow" as an animated feature in 1955. Voice and music recording was completed, under musical director Lyn Murray , with a voice cast that included Frank Sinatra , Louis Armstrong , Ella Fitzgerald , Ella Logan (from the original Broadway cast) and Barry Fitzgerald . Unfortunately, shortly after this was done, funding ran out and the film was never completed. 4 Hired to be the original director of the legendary animated film Watership Down (1978). However, after a year of work, and little to show, producer Martin Rosen fired him and took the reins himself. The opening sequence is all that remains of Hubley's work, and has his unique style present - something that is different from the rest of the film. 5 Father of Mark Hubley , Emily Hubley , Georgia Hubley , and Ray Hubley .
