Sky Dylan Dayton (created August 8, 1971) is an American entrepreneur. Dayton is the creator of EarthLink, co founder of eCompanies, as well as the creator and present chairman of Boingo. In late 1990, in the age of 19, Dayton as well as a buddy raised cash from relatives and buddies and started Mocha Gallery, an art gallery and coffee house in L.A. In 1992, while still managing Cafe Mocha, Dayton and buddy Adam Wicks Walker started Dayton/Walker Design, a Studio City marketing and design company, in 1992. In 1993, Dayton learned in regards to the Web. After spending 80 hours attempting to get his Macintosh computer to log in, he eventually got connected. Recognizing the Internet was prone to become another mass medium, in 1994 he made a decision to begin EarthLink. In search of startup capital, he approached Kevin O’Donnell, dad of a childhood buddy. O’Donnell brought in Reed Slatkin as well as the two became EarthLink’s first fiscal backers. (Though they’ve occasionally been referred to as EarthLink cofounders, EarthLink and numerous media sources allow the “Creator” title for Dayton).
