Initially a musician living in Tampa Bay, Florida, his Hollywood career started with being cast by director Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger) and producer Joel Silver (The Matrix) in a supporting role in 1990's Andrew Dice Clay film The Adventures of Ford Fairlane (20th Century-Fox). Following the film's release, Jarrett played music in Los Angeles, both as a solo artist and in various bands while working as a crew member on other films, making short films, and acting in commercials.Cody's first feature, Frog-g-g! was released in 2004 on Koch Entertainment. The film won Grand Jury Prize/Best Feature at the 2004 New York Film And Video Festival and was chosen a "Top 25 of 2005" DVD at Mr. Skin. However, the film is known for a series of publicity stunts. Following FROG-G-G!'s release, Jarrett directed television commercials, music videos, and a sports documentary for female MMA star Miesha "Takedown" Tate.Cody's second feature was the 1970s-influenced women-in-prison film Sugar Boxx, released by Lightning Entertainment, Showtime Networks, and Entertainment One. The film features notable cameos by "Foxy Brown" writer/director Jack Hill and Russ Meyer star Tura Satana. The film received critical and audience accolades.Currently Cody is in pre-production on Tura!, a documentary chronicling the life of actor/burlesque dancer Tura Satana, best known for her role in 1965's Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!. Release is scheduled for 2014.Cody Jarrett is also the screen name of the leading villain in White Heat, portrayed by James Cagney. His character is ranked 26 in the list of AFI's 100 Years... 100 Heroes and Villains.
Cody is lead singer for Hollywood all-star band Teen Machine. Other notable band members are actress Amanda Foreman (vocals), Tikiyaki Orchestra founder Jim Bacchi (Guitar, Vocals), and former DIG guitarist Johnny "The Commander" Cornwell (bass, vocals). The band's debut, After School Special, was released during the "LA power-pop takeover" of the late 1990's-early 2000's and well received by critics and fans alike. Teen Machine played numerous shows and festivals with other pop icons including Jason Falkner (Jellyfish), Jason Schwartzman's Phantom Planet, and Poison's CC DeVille. Teen Machine has not played live in several years, but a reunion show is on the horizon. http://www.popmatters.com/review/teenmachine-after/.
