Kan Ishii was born on March 30, 1921 in Tokyo, Japan. He was an actor and composer, known for Meitô bijomaru (1945), Sekishun (1967) and The Song Lantern (1943). He died on November 24, 2009 in Tokyo.
Kan Ishii was selected as composer for Yosei Gorasu after writng a ballet in the Soviet Union. His score is very subdued despite the nature of the film. He never scored a film subsequently, but is well known in his home country as a classical composer.
