Generally considered to be among John Davidson's best acting performances was in an episode of The Streets of San Francisco: Mask of Death (1974), where he plays a female impersonator and entertainer. Surprisingly beautiful and convincing, Davidson performs a perfect spot-on imitation of Carol Channing. Unfortunately, his character is a schizophrenic, with dual personality disorder, who embodies both "him" and "her" simultaneously... one of them a cold-blooded murderer. One particularly chilling scene is where "she" threatens "him" during a spellbinding conversation in a mirror. The performance remains among the most unusual and remarkable of the series.
