Template:Multiple issuesGlen Murphy MBE (born 6 April 1957) is an English actor, perhaps best known as George Green between 1988 and 2002 on the television drama London's Burning.He attended St Bonaventure's School in Forest Gate.He has also had roles on The Bill, Shine on Harvey Moon "Murphys Mob" Casualty and Doctor Who (in the 1986 story "The Mysterious Planet" as Dibber) and more recently Fathers of Girls, Karl Howman's feature debut starring Ray Winstone.He was awarded an MBE in the 2007 Queen's Birthday Honours for his charity work, and was awarded the Freedom of the City of London in 1995.He now lives in Italy and Essex with his wife Linda, they have four children.Murphy supports West Ham United and also likes horse riding, and has played guitar since first being asked to play bass guitar for a school band when he was 13. His father (Terence Murphy), his uncles (Joe Lucy and Eddie Wright), were all champion boxers. Glen's first fight was at the age of nine. He became a British Schoolboy Champion and went onto fight internationally. He trained in Karate for 6 years under Dickie Wu, Terry Stewart & Jamie O'Keefe. He graded for shodan in November 1989 and now trains in the kyokushin style with the BKK under Liam Keaveney. He has also studied fencing, tang soo doo,and shooting. Glen also played football for Chelsea as a schoolboy and became an apprentice with Charlton, and was registered with Enfield Town FC and Rainham Town FC in the FA Cup, and has played at Wembley 10 times.Murphy is the patron of the SupportLine charity which provides a confidential telephone helpline offering emotional support to individuals on any issue.He speaks English, Italian and some Japanese. Glen has been a keen photographer for over 30 years, but has only recently received a professional qualification from the Institute of Professional Photography.Murphy has a production company, Omerta Films, and has two films in development for 2014 and two at script level for 2015 and has finished production on Lost in Italy (New York Hells Kitchen World Cinema Best Film Award) and has started pre production with his next feature Sabini and a stage play is being written for him to play Johnny Cash, to tour UK next year.

Has played Guitar ever since he was asked to play Bass Guitar in a school band when he was age 13. Not down to talent but because his dad had a "practice room" over his Pub.

He owns Omerta Films, a production company set up to produce feature films with crime thriller themes, with his co-producer Steve Darts. The first film of a slate of five has just won the New York Hells Kitchen Film Festival, "world cinema best film", and their new production, the thriller Finger Of Suspicion has started pre-production and is due to shoot in 2016.

Glen is a karate black belt - he gained his nidan in 2013, after training for 30 years, and still trains in the kyokushin style today with the BKK.

He was in the National Theatre's award-winning (Olivier Awards & Evening Standard Theatre Awards) production of Patrick Marber's "Dealers Choice".

He was awarded the M.B.E. (Member of the most excellent Order of the British Empire) in the 2007 Queen Elizabeth Birthday Honours List for his services to Charity & Drama.
