Dara Murphy (born 2 December 1969) is an Irish Fine Gael politician, who was elected as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Cork North–Central constituency at the 2011 general election. On 15 July 2014, he was appointed as Minister of State at the Departments of the Taoiseach and Foreign Affairs with special responsibility for European Affairs and Data Protection.He is a former Lord Mayor of Cork from 2009 to 2010. He was first elected to the Cork City Council in 2004, and served as Deputy Lord Mayor from 2005 to 2006. He also served as the first Chair of the Cork Joint Policing Committee.He was born in Glanmire, County Cork.Murphy was appointed by the then Taoiseach John Bruton to be his representative on the National Economic and Social Council at Dublin Castle between 1995 and 1998.
