Beside his activity as an actor he lent his voice to vocal less talented actors like Karl Schönböck in the movie "Der Blaufuchs" (1938).

Helgar made more than 1000 recordings of popular or operatic songs, mostly for Ultraphone and Telefunken. He also appeared as actor in several films and did voice-overs for non-singing stars.
