Publicly criticized the firing of Joanna Pacitti from the titular role in the 1998 Broadway revival of "Annie." Somewhat ironically, McArdle got the role in a similar manner during the original production of the musical, when she replaced actress Kristen Vigard, who was fired from the production just prior to the New York opening.
