Peter Morton (born August 7 1947) is the co founder (along with Isaac Tigrett) of the Hard Rock Caf, a chain of casual dining restaurants. Morton’s first Hard Rock Cafe opened near Hyde Park Corner in London, England. The chain started international growth in 1982 when the two agreed to develop their very own cafes around the world. In 1995, The Rank Organisation (now The Rank Group) got the cafes possessed by Morton for $410 million, but Morton kept the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Vegas, Nevada. In May 2006, Morton sold the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Vegas to New York-based Morgans Hotel Group for $770 million. The Hard Rock pool alone, rated #1 of the top ten resort pools by Travel Channel, inhabits land valued at $50 million. Morton afterwards founded and remains the owner one of Los Angeles’ quintessential dining power places — Morton’s (not to be mistaken with Morton’s of Chicago).
