Jacob Arabo is a Bukharian-American jeweler and creator of Jacob & Company. Although he started out offering reasonably priced, traditional jewelry, Arabo’s layout awareness soon got the attentions of stars, vocalists, and musicians in the hip hop and rap music world. In the early 1990s his clientele and company grew, and Arabo became known as “Jacob the Jeweler”. The townhouse space is adorned with Arabo’s trademark five-time zone watches. In June 2006, Arabo was detained on charges of money laundering and conspiracy in connection with all the Detroit-based Black Mafia Family, along with for not declaring big cash purchases to the Internal Revenue Service. In October 2007, after admitting to lying to investigators, Arabo and his lawyer, Ben Brafman, entered a plea where the much more serious charges of money laundering were dropped. Arabo was released from jail in April 2010.
