1[The New York Times - February 9, 2016] During production of The Danish Girl (2015), the filmmakers were obsessed with me not looking Scandinavian and I was like, 'I'm the only Scandinavian in the whole film.' They paled my skin, to make me lighter. People say that I'm tanned, but that's my natural color.
2[on photographs of her private moments with her friends and boyfriend] It was a shock to meet up with friends, then days later see a picture of you all, sitting outside a café, splashed across the media. You realize that someone was there, watching, while you were having a coffee with your friends. And you just feel violated.
3[W Magazine - March 2015] Next year, the Oscars will be interesting. If all goes well, I'm going to have three films in contention. I've had many years of working a lot without being in the public eye. And that's been good. But by this time next year, I think things are going to change. I expect to be busy. I'm ready to be a bit more known.
4Both my mom and my dad have always included me in intelligent conversations about people, about characters, about how people work. My dad and my mom still read all scripts that I find interesting.
5I think I'm a big romantic, so being part of those stories, that's such a big part of anyone's life in general, that's such a humane thing.
6[on being a brown-eyed, brown-haired, olive-skinned Swede] I always get that question - where are your parents really from? Do you know where your dad's from? [My parents] are both from very small villages, from up north and south of Sweden. I'm [also] a quarter Finnish, but that doesn't really make me much darker.
7It's almost a kick that I'm looking for. I like to push myself, find new sides of myself and see how different the characters are that I can create with my craft.
8I'd love to continue to work in Europe and the US. What I'm looking for is the right film and if that's a big studio film, or a tiny film being shot in a few days in Europe, that's not what I'm thinking about - it's about the project and who I'm going to do it with.
#Fact
1During the showreel of The Weinstein Company's upcoming slate of films at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, producer Harvey Weinstein told journalists that he was so enamored of Vikander that he asked her to play a part in Burnt (2015) (her part didn't exist in the script). Weinstein also stated that Vikander will have a brilliant future in Hollywood's biggest league. Vikander had previously starred in another upcoming Weinstein Company film, Tulip Fever (2017).
2Beat out her Tulip Fever (2017) co-star Cara Delevingne for the role of Lara in Tomb Raider (2018).
3The second Academy Award winner to portrayed Lara Croft in Tomb Raider (2018). The first one was Angelina Jolie in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003)_.
4Filming The Light Between Oceans (2016) she met her current boyfriend, Michael Fassbender, who plays her husband in the movie.
5Was named "The Thinking-man's Blake Lively" by The New York Times in 2015.
6In 2011 she made her home in London. After renting in Notting Hill, Shoreditch and Hackney she bought an apartment in North West London in 2013 and loves the old culture of Great Britain "the opera, high tea, getting in a black cab".
7Director Tom Hooper delayed production of The Danish Girl (2015) until after Alicia finished filming The Light Between Oceans (2016) to secure her for the role of Gerda.
8Stated that she dislikes talking about her private life but often talks about her boyfriend in interviews for fashion magazines. In an interview with the Daily Telegraph published in August 2015 she confirmed that she and the actor Michael Fassbender are a couple. They met while filming The Light Between Oceans in 2014.
9Is the first Swede to win an Academy Award since Ingrid Bergman in 1975.
10Her Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, instead of Best Actress in a Leading Role for The Danish Girl (2015), was seen by many as a critical category fraud, as her character, Gerda, has more screen time and more dialogue than Eddie Redmayne's character, Einar/Lili. Vikander has 73 minutes of screen time, 61.7% of the movie's length. Distributor Focus Features decided to campaign for Vikander as supporting actress because they thought it would increase her chances of winning.
11Revealed to The New York Times on February 9, 2016, that the filmmakers of The Danish Girl (2015) were obsessed with the fact that she didn't look Scandinavian and paled her skin, to make her lighter. "People say that I'm tanned, but that's my natural color", Vikander told. The real Gerda Wegener was a natural blonde and blue-eyed Danish woman with pale skin, while Vikander is a natural brunette with brown eyes and olive skin. Besides lightening her skin, Vikander also had to wear blonde wigs that didn't suit her skin tone in the film.
12Her maternal grandmother, Solveig Waldemarsdotter, was Finnish, and came to Sweden in the early 1940s. Alicia's other grandparents were Swedish.

16Appeared in the Swedish musical Kristina From Duvemala, written by former ABBA member Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, for three years during the show's original run.
17Signed as the new face of Louis Vuitton in February 2015.
18Auditioned for the role of Cinderella in Cinderella (2015). Lily James was cast instead.
19Her favorite actresses are Marion Cotillard, Isabelle Huppert and Jennifer Lawrence.
20Auditioned for the part of Snow White in Snow White and the Huntsman (2012). She worked on her English and made tapes of herself playing different characters, hoping to land a part in an American movie, the tapes were sent to casting directors in the U.K. After meeting with the casting directors, she was en route to the airport when she received the call she had been waiting for: executives at Universal wanted to send her to Los Angeles to screen-test for the part of Snow White. "I was on the phone crying at a Starbucks," Vikander recalled. "People thought I was having a breakup with my boyfriend! I said, 'No, it's good news! I'm going to have a career!'". Vikander didn't get the part, it went to Kristen Stewart.
21Has appeared in two period pieces set in Denmark, the neighbor country of her native Sweden, A Royal Affair (2012) and The Danish Girl (2015).
22Dropped out of both Assassin's Creed (2016) and The Circle (2017) to do Jason Bourne (2016) instead. She was replaced by Ariane Labed in Assassin's Creed and by Emma Watson in The Circle.

24Raised in Göteborg, Sweden.
25Before she mastered the Danish language she had to use in A Royal Affair (2012), she was able to practice all of her lines, since they had been recorded on her Iphone by one of her mother's friend.
26Was chosen for her part in A Royal Affair (2012), following a long casting process where the casting directors were unable to find a fitting actress for the role of Queen Caroline Mathilde. In fact, the search gave so few results that the production almost was stalled. However, when they discovered Vikander she didn't speak the language that she was required to, but she was still considered to be perfect for the part. The crew made her go through an intense language lessons throughout two months. She succeed in the mastering the language and because of that, the production was back on track.

The temperatures dipped to -40 °C, and she stayed in a cabin for five days that didn't have hot water and only had benches instead of beds. Russian security guards protected her and co-star Domhnall Gleeson from wild wolves and bears that dominated the deserted area.
30A trained ballet dancer. She studied ballet at the Royal Swedish Ballet School, but decided to pursue acting instead of ballet, following few injuries and subsequent foot and back surgeries.

32Got the part of Kitty in Anna Karenina (2012) after Saoirse Ronan turned it down, while she got the part of Alice in Seventh Son (2014) after Jennifer Lawrence backed out of the production.
