He’s also a contributor for NBC’s “Dateline NBC”. He was formerly a news anchor for “The Today Show” in 1994 and anchorman for WNBC in NYC as well as a nearby talk show host in Boston, Philadelphia, Providence and Richmond. In the early 1990s, Lauer hosted sections of HBO Entertainment News.
Lauer appears again in the conclusion of the movie, when Marshall shows up with his new novel, Matt Lauer Can Blow It. Both scenes finish in violent physical confrontation involving both, together with the staff attempting to break them up. About the April 5, 2012, program, Lauer declared he had signed a fresh contract with NBC News. The contract will apparently pay Lauer $25 million per annum. Even though it was widely reported by rumor sites that Lauer had much related to his then co host, Ann Curry’s departure, these reports were later proven to be false. The strategy was called “Operation Bambi”. Lauer needed Bell to delay the departure of Curry. He co-hosted the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Summer Olympics, the 2010 Winter Olympics, as well as the 2012 Summer Olympics. His comments on the 2012 opening ceremonies, as well as that of cohosts Meredith Vieira and Bob Costas, came under intense criticism, being described as “unlearned” and “banal”. During the 2014 Winter Olympics, prime time host Bob Costas endured a serious eye infection within the initial five days of primetime coverage. Because of this, Lauer replaced him for the sixth day of coverage.
