Amie Ann Duffy (born 23 June 1984), known as Duffy, is a British singer songwriter and occasional performer. Produced in Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales, her career started when she recorded and released her debut EP, “Aime Duffy”, in 2004.
Duffy’s 2008 debut record, “Rockferry”, entered the united kingdom Album Chart at number one. It was the best selling record in the UK in 2008 with 1.68million copies sold. The record was certified several times Platinum and sold over 7million copies worldwide, spawning the hits “Mercy” and “Warwick Avenue”. With “Mercy”, Duffy became the first Welsh girl to reach number one on the united kingdom Singles Chart since Bonnie Tyler topped the charts with “Total Eclipse of the Heart” in 1983. In 2010, she finished record of her second record “Endlessly” that was released on 29 November and made her performing debut in the movie “Patagonia”. In February 2011, Duffy declared she’d take a long hiatus from music before starting work on her third record. Duffy doesn’t play any specific musical instrument.
