Douglas E. Davis (created September 17, 1966), better known by the stage name Doug E. Fresh, is an American rapper, record producer, and beat fighter, also known as the Human Beat Box. The leader of 20th century American beatboxing, Fresh is actually able to precisely mirror drum machines and assorted special effects using just his mouth, lips, gums, throat, tongue as well as a mic.
2010 found Fresh make a little recovery in popular culture as rap group Cali Swag District brought back a few of his trademark dance moves using their tune “Teach Me How to Dougie.” Members of Cali Swag District saw Texas college students doing a nearby dance created in Dallas called the D-Town Boogie. They recognized it as a modified variant of Fresh’s dance moves and made a decision to make a tune that will feature the dance, but also give Fresh his due credit. On June 27, 2010, Fresh came out as well as performed with Cali Swag District while they were performing their song “Teach Me How to Dougie” in the BET Awards Pre-show. Fresh performing in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on August 29, 2010. On Dec. 10, 2010 Fresh appeared on ESPN First Take to speak about the occurrence of the Dougie as a sports party. Within the show he, Lomas Brown, and Skip Bayless voted on the top sports associated Dougie’s. On May 25, 2013 Fresh debuted the classic hip hop and r&b show called “The Show” on 107.5 WBLS 9 11PM Saturday nights.
