Ian Rickson (born 8 November 1963) is a British theatre and film director. He was the Artistic Director at the Royal Court Theatre in London from 1998 to 2006, and currently works freelance.In 2009 he was made an Honorary Professor for Drama and Theatre Studies at the University of Kent's School of Arts.A former pupil of John Roan School in Greenwich, he studies at Essex University and Goldsmiths' College, and still lives in south-east London. He is married to Polly Teale.
He was nominated for a 2002 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Director of 2001 for "Mouth to Mouth", performed at the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs at the Royal Court and Albery Theatres in London, England.
