Else "Els" Borst-Eilers (March 22, 1932 – February 8-10, 2014) was a Dutch politician of the Democrats 66 (D66) party. She served as Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport from August 22, 1994 until July 22, 2002 in the Cabinets Kok I and II and Deputy Prime Minister of the Netherlands from August 3, 1998 until July 22, 2002 in the Second purple cabinet. For the Dutch general election of 1998 she was the lijsttrekker (top candidate) and served as Party leader from February 15, 1998 until May 14, 1998. The Democrats 66 lost ten seats and Borst became the Parliamentary leader of the Democrats 66 in House of Representatives, serving from May 7, 1998 until May 14, 1998 and a Member of the House of Representatives from May 19, 1998 until August 3, 1998.On December 21, 2012, she was granted the honorary title of Minister of State.
