Steven Francis Shea (born December 5, 1942 in Worcester, Massachusetts) is an American former Major League Baseball player. A right-handed relief pitcher, Shea played in 40 MLB games for the Houston Astros (1968) and Montreal Expos (1969). He stood 6 feet 3 inches (1.91 m) tall, weighed 215 pounds (98 kg), and attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst.Shea was called up from the Triple-A Oklahoma City 89ers in July 1968 and got credit for the victory in his first Major League appearance, hurling a perfect 1⅓ innings against the Cincinnati Reds in a 5–4 extra-innings Houston win. After 30 games with the Astros, he was sold to the expansion Expos on the eve of their maiden 1969 National League season. He worked in the Expos' second-ever contest, a 9–5 loss to the New York Mets, and in nine other contests for Montreal. Despite a good 2.87 earned run average, he was sent to the Triple-A Vancouver Mounties in June and finished his career in minor league baseball in 1971.Shea split eight decisions as a Major Leaguer, and earned six saves (all with the 1968 Astros). He struck out 26, walked 19 and allowed 45 hits in 50⅓ Major League innings.
