James Alfred Hale (1916-1992) was an Australian rugby league footballer of the 1940s.Jim Hale was graded with the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 1940 and switched mid-season to join the St George Dragons with whom he played eight seasons between 1940-1947. He is remembered as the second-row forward in the St George side that was defeated in the 1946 Grand Final by Balmain Tigers. At the end of the game, Jim Hale and his team-mate Herb Gilbert, Jr. were involved in a brawl when a spectator jumped on to the Sydney Cricket Ground playing area and punched Hale.
