Edgar Morin was born on July 8, 1921 in Paris, France as Edgar Nahoum. He is a director and writer, known for Here to Stay (2009), Chronicle of a Summer (1961) and René Clément, témoin et poète (2013).
Co-directed the groundbreaking documentary Chronique d'un été (Paris 1960) (1961) together with ethnographer Jean Rouch and coined the now popular term Cinéma Vérité in one of his texts shortly before the film was produced.

His many books and publications include two early sociological books on cinema: "Le cinéma ou l'homme imaginaire" (1956) and "Les Stars" (1957).
