Robert Herjavec (Croatian: [herjavets]) is a Croatian-born Canadian businessman, investor, and media persona. Herjavec’s first profession was in picture for a very young age. He rapidly went behind the camera in a variety of production functions. In between generations Herjavec found himself looking for work. Through his roommate, Herjavec learned of an opening in a PC startup called Logiquest selling IBM mainframe emulation boards. Herjavec found himself under-qualified for the place but talked his way to the job by offering to work for free for the initial six months to bring in his stay. To be able to cover the rent during this “free” interval, Herjavec waitered nighttime at Remy’s restaurant in Yorkville. He finally ended up as General Manager of Logiquest. In 1990, he left to found BRAK Systems, a Canadian integrator of Internet security program, in the cellar of his house. BRAK Systems was sold to AT&T Canada in 2000. Following a three-year retirement as a stay at home dad to his three kids, Herjavec founded the Herjavec Group in 2003, a security solutions integrator, reseller and managed service provider, of which he’s now the CEO. The Herjavec Group is among Canada’s fastest-growing technology businesses as well as the nation’s biggest IT security supplier, as stated by the Branham Group. The organization has done over $500 million in sales in the last ten years.

I just- I always asked him what he was most proud of, and the first factory job - not when he made some money, not when he got promoted - that factory job where he swept floors... that made him proud.
