He was the person who owns the Philadelphia Eagles. Norman and his brother in law, Ed Leibowitz, formally became the owners of the Eagles on April 29, 1985. Norman possessed 65 percent of the group while Ed possessed 35 percent until July 16, 1986 when Norman purchased the remaining group from Ed. Braman sold the team to film executive Jeffrey Lurie in 1994.
He started his career in 1955 in the promotion and sales department for Seagram’s Vendors. In 1957, he founded Keystone Stores, a chain of self service department stores, in Philadelphia. In 1964, he arranged Philadelphia Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics, a maker of pharmaceuticals and was President and Chief Executive Officer. In 1972 he purchased a Cadillac car dealer in Tampa. 3 years after he purchased another in Miami and now he’s CEO of Braman Enterprises, an umbrella firm for his automotive businesses including 23 car dealerships in Florida and Colorado. From 1985 to 1994, he possessed the Philadelphia Eagles football team, having bought it from Leonard Tose. Braman reconstructed the Eagles into an NFL NFC Eastern Division winner in 1988. The team won at least 10 matches for five straight years through 1993. Braman served on the Board of Governors of numerous associations. In 1999, he helped get the better of then-County Mayor Alex Penelas campaign to get a one-cent sales tax that may have created billions of dollars to spend on mass transit, while possibly damaging car sales. He recently filed a suit from the Florida Marlins and others above their plans to construct a brand new ballpark. Braman yet says he is willing to fight his case as far as the Supreme Court.
