In February 2009, Doerr was made an associate of the President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board to supply the President and his government with guidance and counsel in attempting to repair America’s economic decline. As of March 2013, “Forbes” rated Doerr as the 527th wealthiest man on the planet, with a net worth of US $2.7 billion.
Doerr joined Intel Corporation in 1974 just as the company was developing the 8080 8-bit microprocessor. He finally became one of Intel’s most successful salespeople. He also holds several patents for memory apparatus. He joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in 1980 and since that time, has directed venture capital financing to a number of the very successful technology firms on the planet including Compaq, Netscape, Symantec, Sun Microsystems, drugstore.com, Amazon.com, Intuit, Macromedia and Google and others.
