Nathaniel Kahn (born November 9, 1962, Philadelphia) is an American filmmaker. His documentaries My Architect (2003) — about his father, the famous architect Louis Kahn — and Two Hands (2006) were nominated for Academy Awards. His mother is Harriet Pattison.Kahn is a graduate of Germantown Friends School and Yale University.
I know I should feel anger at my father for certain things. But since he died when I was 11, I never got to that point.

As a child, my father's architecture seemed to me to be industrial in a way. It seemed harsh and kind of chilly; I didn't respond to it.

There are a lot of bad films out there. There's a lot of bad architecture out there, and I think sometimes it takes a lot of time to begin to see what's really good. And I think what the test seems to be is, what really sticks with you. And what really becomes a part of your life.

My father was my hero, and he died when I was 11. So, I really never experienced the kind of natural teenage rebellion or the anger at him. I never experienced those feelings as a young person.

Son of legendary architect Louis I. Kahn and landscape architect Harriet Pattison. Kahn also had a daughter, Alexandra, with architect Anne Tyng. Although he privately acknowledged Nathaniel and Alexandra as his, Kahn left them out of his Will, leaving his entire estate to his wife and their daughter.
