Kieron Courtney Dyer /dar/ (created 29 December 1978) is an English former footballer who played as a midfielder. Produced in Ipswich, he played youth soccer because of his house club before going on to make almost 100 league appearances for the club’s first team. He was sold to Newcastle United for 6m, in the time the very best fee paid for an Ipswich player, and made almost 200 appearances for Newcastle between 1999 and 2007.
A 6m move to West Ham United followed, but Dyer endured from various harms, limiting him to 30 league appearances in four seasons. Nevertheless, his time at QPR was again blighted by injuries and he made only eight appearances for the team before being released in January 2013. He’s represented England on 33 occasions and was an associate of the England squads in the 2002 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2004.
On 31 January 2013, Dyer signed a “short term” contract with Tournament side Middlesbrough. Dyer’s Middlesbrough introduction came on 2 February away at among his previous teams, Ipswich Town, with ‘Boro losing 4–0. By the end of his contract, Dyer had not been offered a fresh contract and left the team.
