Having initially been denied the opportunity to fight for Ireland at the Olympic Games, Fury is now permitted to represent both Great Britain and Ireland, after tracing his family lineage to relatives in Belfast. He has represented both England and Ireland at amateur level and won the ABA championship in 2008 before turning professional later that year. He is the former Irish heavyweight champion and former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion.
Became grandfather to a girl, Celine in January 2014.
