Philip Michael Rivers (created December 8, 1981) is an American football quarterback for the San Diego Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). Rivers played college football at North Carolina State University. Rivers’ career passer rating of 96.0 is third-best all time among NFL quarterbacks with at least 1,500 passing efforts. Known for his durability, he set a NCAA record with 51 straight starts, and is rated 4th all time in consecutive starts by a quarterback in NFL history.

In 2007, he helped the Chargers win their very first playoff game since 1994 after defeating the Tennessee Titans in the wildcard round of the 2007 playoffs and finally leading them to the AFC Championship Game. He’s got a career total of 17 fourth quarter recoveries, his latest being on December 29, 2013, when he led the Chargers to a 27-24 overtime triumph over the Kansas City Chiefs.
