Landon Timothy Donovan (born March 4, 1982) is an American soccer player now playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy as well as the Usa men’s national team. He’s played for Bayer Leverkusen, San Jose Earthquakes, Bayern Munich, and Everton. He normally plays as a withdrawn forward for the Galaxy, however he’s equally as powerful as an attacking midfielder on each wing playing for the U.S.
An associate of the inaugural group of the U.S. Soccer residency program in Bradenton, Florida, Donovan was held player of the tournament for his part in the United States U17 that ended fourth in the 1999 FIFA U-17 World Championship, Donovan after signed with the German team Bayer Leverkusen. After six years together with the team, most of which was spent on loan in the San Jose Earthquakes, Donovan went to the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2005, though he returned to the Bundesliga to get a three-month spell in the beginning of 2009 on loan to Bayern Munich.
For the USA men’s national team, Donovan is the all time leader in scoring and assists, and contains the most caps of active players. Donovan is the sole American player to achieve the 50 goals/50 assists symbol. He’s a four-time victor of the U.S. Football Sportsman of the Year award (the only man to do so and the first man to win in successive years), as well as the only seven-time winner of the Honda Player of the Year award.
