Andrew Christopher Brees (/bris/; created January 15, 1979) is an American football quarterback for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for Purdue University, and was selected by the San Diego Chargers with the very first pick in the 2nd round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He left school as among the most-awarded players in Purdue and Big Ten history, establishing 2 NCAA records, 13 Big Ten Conference records and 19 Purdue University records. He continues the Big Ten Conference record holder in nearly every passing group, including completions (1,026), yards (11,792) and touchdowns (90).

Brees began his career together with the San Diego Chargers, earning the starting job in 2002 and making the Pro Bowl in 2004. After injuring his shoulder by the end of the 2005 season, Brees signed with all the New Orleans Saints, where he met instant success, earning seven trips to the Pro Bowl and leading the Saints to their very first Super Bowl. “Sports Illustrated” named Brees as its 2010 Sportsman of the Year.
