When Kitamura Kazuki received the offer to play Nakagomi Takeshi on Akihabara@Deep (2006) in 2006, he agreed almost immediately, despite an already overwhelming schedule load. He admitted in an interview that he hadn't even finished reading the script when he signed his contract. The reason for his enthusiasm? His mind was made up when he learned he would be cosplaying as Char Aznable.

While striving to accomplish his acting goals, he was met with great frustration; although he found work, the roles were typically as an extra. Dissatisfied at his limited success, he decided to travel throughout Southeast Asia, South America, and Australia, but after nearly four years of wandering, he realized running away from his problems would not fix them and headed back to Tokyo to begin again.

Kitamura Kazuki did not always aspire to be an actor; his foremost dream growing up was to become a pirate. Once he was of age, he enrolled in Yuge National College of Maritime Technology, but dropped out after three years upon accepting that his dream was not particularly realistic. Instead, he decided to pursue his interest in acting, later saying that acting allows you to become any type of person - even a pirate.
