Vidya Sinha was born on November 15, 1947 in Mumbai, Maharahstra, India. She is known for her work on Bodyguard (2011), Chhoti Si Baat (1975) and Rajnigandha (1974). She was previously married to Venkateshwaran Iyer.
Her shock over nudity in Hindi films: "In our times we too had romantic scenes but they were dealt with with a lot of sensitivity, but some of today's films are so bold that they can't be seen with our family and kids."

On why she left acting for a long time: "I did not want my daughter Jhanvi to be brought up by servants and I did not hire any servants. I brought her up singlehandedly as I did not want to miss out on her upbringing."
