# Fact 1 Following her death, she was interred near her parents, Arno and Bess Merkel, at Highland Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. 2 Her name was pronounced U-nah MER-cull. 3 She was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6230 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California on February 8, 1960. 4 On March 4, 1952, nearly seven years after her mother committed suicide, she overdosed on sleeping pills. She was found unconscious by a nurse who caring for her at the time, and was rushed to the hospital where she remained in a coma. 5 Father: (Albert) Arno Merkel born May 9, 1882 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
