1The wonderful Victorian Britishness of Gilbert and Sullivan is part of it's enduring appeal, with it's gentle satiric humour, which I think audiences respond to wherever the British Empire reached. It's particularly pleasant on the ear. It's so eminently listenable. My children were brought up on it and they now bring their university friends to watch me perform. So you could argue it's something genetic.
