Pat Putnam was born on April 27, 1930 in Schenectady, New York, USA as Patrick Francis Anthony Nolan Putnam. He is known for his work on Sonny Liston: The Mysterious Life and Death of a Champion (1995), She Came to the Valley (1979) and ESPN SportsCentury (1999). He died on November 27, 2005 in Schenectady.
At a 1991 fight in Reno the ring announcer was introducing celebrities to the crowd when Putnam yelled out to him that he better not forget Joe DiMaggio. The announcer agreed and asked the audience to give him a hand. The only problem was that DiMaggio was not in attendance.

Served as a Marine in the Korean War during which he received several Purple Hearts and endured 17 months as a prisoner of war. His war time experience left him with only one lung and a life time of back problems.
