Pat Brittenden is a New Zealand broadcaster, blogger and political commentator. Brittenden cut his teeth in current affairs and talkback working for Newstalk ZB from 2004 until his resignation at the end of 2011. Brittenden's reason for resigning from the number one show in the country, on NZ's number one network is said to be 'to pursue some personal business opportunities' although sources say in part it is because there was no progression plan for him at Newstalk ZB. In his career Brittenden has worked alongside many of NZ's top broadcasters including Paul Holmes, Jeremy Corbett, Mike Hosking, Kerre Woodham, Paul Ego, Petra Bagust and Rob Harley just to name a fewIn his career, Brittenden has worked for both music and talk stations including More FM Auckland, Coastline FM (now More FM Tauranga), Life FM, the weekend breakfast announcer at Classic Hits, Newstalk ZB and New Zealand's Rhema.In 2011 in the lead up to NZ's 2011 election Brittenden also made his first foray into the world of PodCasting working with comedian Jeremy Elwood on the short run Slightly Correct Political Show. The show was only really every broadcast on Facebook, and whilst many heavyweight political figures featured on the show word has it that it was never going to go beyond the November election.In November 2011, Brittenden was employed by TVNZ to appear on Breakfast in the lead up to the 2011 NZ Election. His area of expertise was the electoral referendum to coincide with NZ's 2011 election.Pat Brittenden has also been seen on New Zealand's small screens with small guest parts in Shortland Street including a recurring role as security guard Merv, 2008 political satire The Pretender, TV3 children's drama Secret Agent Man and back in 1999 as a VJ on Juice TV. He has also worked as a teacher.He was educated at Sacred Heart College and St Peter's College.
