Fact
1
On September 18, 1999, he became the one of the oldest players (age 35) ever to debut in a major league baseball game when he pitched in the eighth inning of a Devil Ray's game against the Texas Rangers. He struck out Rangers' shortstop Royce Clayton on four pitches for the final out of the inning. Ironically, Clayton made a cameo in "The Rookie", which depicted Morris' rise to the majors, and again was Morris' first major league strikeout victim, this time with Morris being portrayed by Dennis Quaid. (The oldest was Diomedes Olivo who was 41 when he debuted for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1960.)
