Guy M. Gillette served as a United States Senator from Iowa as a Democrat. He was appointed to fill an unexpired term in 1936 was re-elected in 1938 and defeated in 1944. He then came back in 1948 and was elected again, but was defeated for re-election in 1954 as a Democrat.
