Quote
1
I do use texting as a great way to communicate quickly, but I don't Twitter or anything.
2
I go to a very visual place when I'm singing. It's very cinematic and I get this feeling of space. I love when music does that.
3
I still hold on to the idea that a record can really change the way I feel.
4
Certain songs like 'Enjoy the Silence' - to me, it always fits anywhere. There's something about that song that's really timeless, and I never get bored or feel like I have to muster something up.
5
I have to feel the audience. I enjoy that feeling of community. There's something sort of spiritual about it in a lot of ways. It's like we're all doing this together.
6
L.A. is always great. There's something special about L.A. And New York, for me, because it's home. There's nothing quite like walking onstage at Madison Square Garden.
7
Making a record with 'Depeche Mode' is not a simple process. It's quite complicated and long. We have the luxury of time. I'm not sure that's such a good thing when you're being creative.
8
'Presence of God' is really that understanding that sometimes when you step out of your own shoes and just open your ears and listen to what's going on around you, you get answers to the questions you were asking.
9
The possibilities are endless now, with performing, getting your music online, getting your own website and getting your music out there. I think that's very cool and amazing.

Fact
1
As a teenager, he was in juvenile court three times for offences ranging from joyriding and graffiti to criminal damage and theft. He said he enjoyed the thrill of stealing cars, driving them around, and setting them alight.
2
Was only six months old when his father left the family. He grew up believing that his stepfather, Jack Gahan, was his biological father.
3
In his final year at school, Gahan applied for a job as an apprentice fitter with North Thames Gas. He was told by his probation officer to be honest with the interviewer, and as a result, he admitted his criminal record but claimed he was a "reformed character". As a result, he did not get the job which, he claimed, led to him trashing his probation officer's office. His punishment was weekend custody at a sub-Borstal attendance centre in Romford for one year.
Released his first solo album "Paper Monsters" in 2003.
10
Born to Sylvia and Len, he has an older sister, Sue (born in 1960). After they had divorced, Sylvia married Jack Gahan, who adopted her children, and gave birth to another two sons, Peter (born in 1966) and Phil (born in 1968).
11
Named his son Jack after his stepfather, who died in 1972.
12
After leaving Barstable School in July 1978, he found and lost about 20 jobs. Finally, he joined Southend Art College and gained the British Display Society Award.
13
Is a noted body-modifier, especially for having pierced his "gooch".
14
In his single "Dirty Sticky Floors", he refers to his suicide attempt on 17 August 1995. At one point during that time, he spent 12 hours in his wardrobe to watch The Weather Channel and talk to a doll called "The Tin Man". He finally tried to kill himself with a razor blade.
15
Last name is pronounced just like the word "gone", although it's often Americanized, pronounced "guh-hahn."
16
Has three children: Jack (born on 14 October 1987) from his first wife Joanne Fox, Stella (born on 29 July 1999) from Jennifer Sklias, and Jimmy, Jennifer's son from a previous relationship.
