Athene Seyler was born on May 31, 1889 in Hackney, London, England. She was an actress, known for The Inn of the Sixth Happiness (1958), Curse of the Demon (1957) and Make Mine Mink (1960). She was married to Nicholas Hannen and James Bury Sterndale-Bennett. She died on September 12, 1990 in Hammersmith, London.

After her first marriage ended, she lived with fellow actor, Nicholas "Beau" Hannen, from 1922 but they couldn't marry because Hannen's wife refused a divorce. In 1928 she legally changed her name to Athene Hannen. They were married after his wife's death in 1960.
