Betty Jo Trimble (born Betty JoAnne Conway on August 15, 1933), universally known as Bjo (/?bi?d?o?/, BEE-joh), is a significant figure in the history of science fiction fandom. Initially entering fandom in the early 1950s, Trimble, along with her husband John Griffin Trimble, is credited as being one of the most influential fans of her generation.
She and her husband's "Save Star Trek" letter-writing campaign persuaded NBC to renew the original television series for a third season. Star Trek creator Gene Roddenbery hired her as a "fan liaison", and when Star Trek: The Motion Picture was conceived, Roddenberry found a minor role for her as thanks. Trimble has since authored "The Star Trek Concordance: The A to Z Guide to the Classic Original Television Series and Films" (Citadel Press), considered by Star Trek fans to be the most concise reference work on the show ever produced.
